Day 2 of the 20 Days of Gold Making

2. If you set yourself a goal, what was your goal & at what point did you set it?

My first goal was 2000g in Vanilla.
I know that doesn’t sound like a lot today but back in vanilla it was epic land mount and riding skill for my mage and warrior and was kind of a big deal. Only a handful of people in my guild had an epic mount and you could really see the difference and it was a pretty big status symbol.
Looking back I realise now gold making wasn’t something a lot of people did however I really liked to min max during raids ( aka topping the dps meters) so I would spend lots of gold for every raid I was in.
I’m not the biggest fan of inflation in wow, not many gold makers are, but I can see the need to have some inflation because it lets people catch up. I had a very good vanilla but changing realms near the end of vanilla and playing a tri-spec shaman (pve heals, pve dps, pvp heals) meant I never accumulated a lot of gold during BC, it wasn’t until Wotlk where I felt I had caught up and got to 600k and near the end of Cataclysm when I hit three million gold.
My next goal is four million gold and i'm around 400k short of that currently.

Day 1 of the 20 Days of Gold Making

A few other gold makers have decided to follow Nev by doing 20 days of gold making posts so I thought I would jump in as well.

When did you start gold making and what triggered it?
Back in vanilla I and a few guildies decided to make level 19 twinks. Our progression in MC/ZG was going pretty slow so we wanted something to do after raids.
Making twinks was really expensive, not just the gear (we decided to get as much bop stuff as possible to save money and time) but the crazy enchants. Around this time the AQ war effort was going on and we found we had a lot of green items. I decided to make a low level character and learnt enchanting on him (Darnassus because IF was always busy and it made me lag). With skill one enchanting I could disenchant any item in the game which was awesome and enchanting mats sold really well.
My main was Herbalism and Alchemy and I made some good money selling my Arcanite cooldowns and items like greater arcane elixir and brilliant wizard oil.
I worked out that if I had more professions I could make more gold so I began levelling an alt to 60.

I'm Back

If you follow me on twitter you'll know i've actually been back for around 6 weeks. However i've mainly been making 85-89 twinks and doing lots of BG's. It is time to get back into the gold making and this morning I posted up lots of items and in between waiting for TSM to do its magic I wrote this post.

85-89 BG’s the value of blue MoP items

In the past 5-6 weeks I’ve probably spent around 100k on MoP blues for my 85-89 twinks. I try to keep an eye on these for flipping but they very rarely come on to the Auction House below 2k. If you get one while doing daillies or something then make sure to post them high.

No 90 yet but 4 level 88’s with kick ass gear! I'm also taking an alliance alt through some of the revamped Cata zones I skipped before.

The Black Market Auction House was a serious let down, items very rarely come up on there so gearing up via BMAH is not really an option.

I am mainly focused on levelling but once I get a few toons to 90 I will start posting items more often. Currently I am only posting around 300 transmog items and stockpiled items like ore, leather and enchanting mats. I am also sitting on 2 TCG mounts but prices don’t seem very good so I will hold on to these a while longer.

I got really into pet battles for about two weeks but I still think pvp battles need to give better reward and fighting the same selection of pets over and over again got boring.

My Goals for the next 6 weeks:

Get 5 toons to 90

Max all professions (Alchemy, Mining and Tailoring done so far)

Focus on gearing up (HC’s, LFR etc.)  Rogue first (my skinner)

Get farms set up to start bringing in motes/lotus (15 toons at or above level 85 currently)

Farm enough motes for every recipe for every profession (this might take a while)

Get back into blogging
